From where does The Cedar Site’s furniture come?
Western Red Cedar grows in the moisture-rich, woodland areas of
Canada and the Pacific Northwest. In these beautifully wooded areas,
Western Red Cedar maintains its rustic elegance as an important
part of the Western atmosphere. At The Cedar Site, we import our
cedar directly from these forests of tall, beautiful cedar trees.
Our cedar comes from the coasts of British Columbia, where cedar
trees can be found growing prominently in wetland regions, as well
as from Washington, Idaho, and Montana in the United States.
We import out teak wood directly from the tropical rainforests of
India and Malaysia where the beautiful teak tree grows naturally.
Several studies have proven that cultivated or transplanted teak
trees do not possess the same strength and durability as wild teak
trees. Consequently, teak wood imported from Costa Rica or other
areas where teak has been recently introduced into the ecosystem
is not as strong as teak from the tropical rainforests of central
Asia. Also, teak that has not grown in the steamy, pathogen-ridden
environments of tropical rainforests does not possess the same amount
of protective oil. Without oil that repels insects and fungi when
alive, teak wood is not able to resist rot and insect infestation
as outdoor furniture. At The Cedar Site, we import our teak wood
directly from its natural source and provide you with the highest
quality, most durable teak patio furniture.
All of the outdoor furniture from The Cedar Site is constructed in Canada by fine craftsmen who care deeply about the quality and lifetime of their outdoor furniture products.
